Organization Volunteers

A well-run organization relies on lots of volunteers. If you can help out with any of the following unassigned positions, please let us know. We can use all the help we can get.

Scoutmaster

Committee Chair
The responsibilities of the Committee Chair include organizing the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed; maintaining a close relationship with the chartered organization representative and the Scoutmaster; seeing that troop leaders and committee members have training opportunities; interpreting national and local policies to the troop; working closely with the Scoutmaster in preparing troop committee meeting agendas; calling, presiding over and promoting attendance at monthly troop committee meetings and any special meetings that may be called; ensuring troop representation at monthly roundtables; securing top-notch, trained individuals for camp membership; and arranging for charter review and recharter annually.

Committee members attend and participate in a once-monthly committee meeting that determines troop policy and work together with other troop/committee members for planning purposes. Committee members can also serve in other roles. On rare occasion, a committee member may be asked to attend the District Roundtable if the Committee Chair can't go.

Advancement Chair
This person is available for the scouts to present their handbooks to for the purpose of keeping the rank tracking database current, as well as information about merit badge completion and attendance at various events for the purpose of service hours, etc. He/She also schedules Boards of Review and Courts of Honor on the calendar and schedules parents to conduct the boards of review. He/she creates a report from the database to determine what awards are needed before Court of Honor and organizes having those picked up at the Scout shop.

The troop webmaster maintains and updates the troop website, and handles communications with the troop parents and scouts.

Chartering Organization Representative
The chartering organization representative is the liaison with the troop's sponsor. The chartered organization representative is a member of the charter organization; serves as head of the "Scouting department" in the organization; secures a unit committee chairman and encourages training; maintains a close liaison with the unit committee chairman; helps recruit other adult leaders; serves as liaison between the unit and the chartered organization; assists with unit rechartering; encourages service to the organization; and is an active and involved member of the district committee and the local council.

Camping Coordinator
This job entails booking whatever site is chosen for monthly camping trips about a month or two before and filling out a tour permit request on line about a week before the trip. Sometimes, it might include a small amount of research to determine the best location.

Medical Forms Coordinator
This person ensures that we have current, correct medical release forms for all scouts and leaders of the troop. He/She ensures that they are up to date on a regular basis. The most amount of work for this is typically at the beginning of the year, but it does need to be maintained as current on an ongoing basis.

Recruiting Chair
The Recruiting Chair is responsible for interacting with area Packs for the purpose of arranging recruitment opportunities for the Troop. Duties would include speaking with leadership at area Packs, visiting area Pack meetings to speak about Troop 002, and planning and executing recruitment events for Webelos to attend with Troop 002.
